Because going viral isn’t always a good thing

Vaccinate your PC

2020 has definitely been the year of the virus, but while we’re all stressing about COVID-19, don’t forget that your PC is also vulnerable to viruses. Unless, of course, you invest in the latest Kaspersky Anti-Virus software.

Computers are getting smarter all the time – but so are hackers. While you’re doing your online banking, working from home and looking for great deals on bidorbuy, they’re busy creating malware. Why? So they can hack your computer and steal your identity or passwords, and then your money.

Some hackers create viruses purely out of malice, or to test their “skills” against the computer security experts. If you’ve installed Kaspersky Anti-Virus, they’ll soon realise that they’ve met their match.

Kaspersky Lab, the uber-geeks behind Kaspersky Lab, hail from Russia. If you’ve ever watched a James Bond movie, you’ll remember that Russians know a thing or two about espionage – and how to stop it.

Kaspersky Anti-Virus is one of the most popular consumer PC security packages in the world. It’s trusted by millions of people to protect their PCs and everything on them.

Keeping your data safe

Anti-virus software does more than just block the viruses that can destroy your data. They also block attempts to upload spyware, ransomware and Trojans. If you don’t know what these are, quite simply they’re bad news. Spyware watches what you do online and learns your passwords – giving hackers access to your bank accounts.

Ransomware (like the infamous WannaCry “worm” in 2017) can infect your computer over the internet. They encrypt all your files so you can’t open any of them unless you pay a ransom (usually in cryptocurrency).

Trojans are a type of malware that looks legitimate, but once on your computer, can give hackers access to your identity or passwords. They are often spread by email – so be careful what you click on!

Once you’ve installed anti-virus software, it runs quietly in the background, keeping you and your data safe. Unlike a home alarm system, it doesn’t make a lot of noise and fuss when it detects a problem – in fact, most viruses will be stopped in their tracks before you even know they’re there.

Always up to speed

Kaspersky Anti-Virus continually updates from the main Kaspersky Lab database, so you’re always protected against new viruses. It performs regular scans of all the systems on your PC – it’s a bit like a roadworthy, only every day (or as often as you like).

One neat feature is Safe Money, which opens your online banking in a protected browser. The only difference you’ll see is a green border around the screen – think of it as a force-field offering you extra protection while you pay your bills or transfer money.

Things they can’t unsee

The internet contains lots of cute kitten videos and educational content, but there are also websites that are completely unsuitable for kids. With the Parental Control feature, you can ensure that your kids only see age-appropriate content. That means no nightmares for them, and no awkward questions for you.

Install peace of mind

You’re already wearing a mask, using hand sanitizer [NG1] and keeping your distance – so why wouldn’t you give your PC the same type of protection? Compared to the consequences of having your computer hacked or your business data wiped, Kaspersky Anti-Virus represents a great deal – and could save you plenty of stress.
